Cursive offers up tour dates, album details

Oh Mr. Kasher, where have you been all our lives? No letters, no calls, not even an EP. While last year’s Good Life album Help Wanted Nights may have been enough to tide over some, we all know that only a new Cursive album could do the job right. Since 2006’s Happy Hollow, Cursive has been pretty quiet, but that’s all about to change, with some recently announced tour dates and news that a new album is well in the works (via Exclaim).

Yep, Kasher and friends have made some announcements via the Omaha-based band’s website (this seems to be a new trend): “We are all done mixing and have been for a bit but have been working on tweaks and sequence and other fun stuff that no one will ever notice or care about.”

Oh, snap! “all done mixing.” That means the album is almost finished. That means it will come out soon. That means . . . well, you get the idea.

And as to the things “no one will ever notice or care about,” don’t be such a downer, of course we will . . . On second thought maybe stick to the negativity, it’s kind of what Cursive is all about. Still no answer as to whether or not those horns will be back in tow for the new effort, or maybe Gretta will bring her cello back! probably not.

Though that’s the only update we got regarding the still untitled new album, Kasher did go on to mention a handful of US tour dates. While it’s a very short and very spotty tour, they do make a stop with our friends, Schubas, in addition to making two stops in New York City before taking it back home for two final shows.  What’s more, Brooklyn’s own Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson will be along for their stop at the CoS sponsored Tomorrow Never Knows, which will be a great treat. Robinson needs more recognition than he has received at this point. He is truly a great songwriter and with him on the bill any of these shows is bound to be excellent.
