So it looks as if the big news of the day is that Arcade Fire is up to something, most likely pertaining to some sort of live documentary DVD. Of course, if you’re a frequent reader of CoS, the news should come as little surprise – after all, we first mentioned that the Win Butler led outfit appeared to be planning some sort of DVD release back in September.
Turns out our intuition proved correct, at least if you think the video now appearing on miroir-noir.com means anything. Behind a recorded version of AF’s “Cold Wind” and text reading “Miror Noir/Neon Bible Archives/Coming Soon”, the video offers a compilation of live concert footage. Nothing more, nothing less, just your standard amount of AF news – the type that leaves you both tantalized and utterly confused.
Fortunately, thanks to the Internet and more specifically, the fine folks at the top-notch Arcade Fire fansite, Us Kids Know, we know a little more about said video and the likely documentary it’s promoting. Minor Noir is apparently the name of the DVD, which was filmed by Vincent Moon and directed by Vincent Morisset, and will feature live footage from the band’s tour in support of 2007’s Neon Bible. What’s more, as Pitchfork points out, “Minor Noir” is French for “Black Miror”, and as we know, that’s the name of a song off the band’s sophomore album. Fancy that! Everything is starting to make sense!
Of course, additional details are forthcoming, and do keep in mind, everything aside from the video is technically still unconfirmed. Still, it does appear AF fans have something to celebrate that’s actually pertains to the band itself. I mean, we can only take so many side-projects…
