Ian Brown readies a new album…just not with The Stone Roses

So much for the holiday season bringing people together. As Ian Brown recently divulged in a holiday message appearing on his personal website, the former frontman of The Stone Roses has no intention of reuniting with his old bandmates. Instead, Brown will stick to his solo career and a brand new studio album that will soon be added to his resume.

“I’m happy to let you know I’m working up a set of songs that are the best on all levels I’ve been involved with - ooh baby the music gets better with you………!

I’m looking to release these new songs as an an album in AUGUST.

Brown reportedly worked on the new material with longtime collaborator Dave McCraken and will begin recording in March in Japan. Before doing so however, the 45-year-old English native will perform a special one-off concert with an orchestra at the National Opera House in Tokyo, Japan on February 5th.

As for The Stone Roses, it appears Brown’s upcoming endeavors all but puts the kibosh on hopes for a reunion, at least for now. Brown’s former bandmates have expressed interest in a comeback as late as this month, with drummer Reni Wren going as far to say, “it’s the ideal time to do it.” Brown has always been opposed to the idea however, as evident in his proclamation to the BBC over the summer that The Stone Roses “will never reunite.”
