SXSW ‘09 officially announces more acts, over 670 now confirmed!
In just 67 days, the music portion of South by Southwest 2009 will officially take hold of Austin, Texas and bring over 1,800 artists and bands over five days to a countless number of showcases, parties, and anywhere else there is an electrical outlet and a crowd of music-hungry fans. If that image doesn’t get you all tingly inside, I’m not sure what else will.
To celebrate, the folks at SXSW have unveiled the latest round of acts currently confirmed to perform at this year’s edition, scheduled to take place between March 18 and 22. Ben Kweller, Peter Bjorn & John, Explosions in the Sky, The Crystal Method, and Akron/Family highlight the lastest wave of additions, while LA Riots, Kid Sister, Port O’Brien, Ida Maria, Crystal Stilts, and Asobi Seksu are among the other confirmed acts of note.
All in all, combine this latest lineup announcement with the ones previously unveiled and the slew of others we at Consequence of Sound have independently confirmed via MySpace and publicists, and there are now 672, yes 672, currently confirmed. Of course, by the time you read this, that number will probably have changed, so we suggest you check out our official SXSW Outlook page on a pretty regular basis.
By the way,
672/1800 = .3733333
In other words, we still gots a long ways to go!
