T.V. isn’t the only thing on Flight Of The Conchords’ mind…

With the season two premiere of Flight of the Conchords a mere four days away, it’s incredible to think that the television/musical duo of Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie have much time to think about much else these days. But as we discovered in a recent article appearing on Billboard.com, the New Zealand natives will not only be appearing on our T.V.s in the coming weeks, but on our iPods as well.

Shortly after the conclusion of the 10-episode season, the Flight of the Conchords will reportedly unveil their much-anticipated sophomore studio effort. Scheduled for release on April 14th via Sub Pop, the currently untitled followup to the band’s 2008 eponymous debut will consist of 15 tracks, headed by its first single, a track entitled “Angels”, on January 19th.

Of the tracks appearing on the effort, 10 will be taken from the upcoming season, however, because songs used in the show are often only a minute long, the album versions are said to be much different. “More than one of them leans on a ’70s soul sound,” Sub Pop head of A&R Tony Kiewel revealed to Billboard. “I’ve also heard this choir-y sort of thing, a Meat Loaf-y sort of thing and a crazy top 40-type jam.” The album will also reportedly feature the talents of Sia, who provides backing vocals on at least one song.

Ahead of the release, SubPop will be shelling out 10 of the album’s tracks as digital downloads for fans who pre-order online.

Of course, if you aren’t one for waiting, you can already check out episode one of season two below…
