Lil Wayne confirms new album and yes, it’s a rock one…

We’d like to apologize to Drake. When the Toronto based rapper noted in an interview earlier this month that he would be appearing on Lil Wayne’s upcoming new rock album, yes rock as in rock ‘n roll, we were a bit skeptical. Alright, at that point, we honestly believed there was a better chance of Kanye West changing his name then the world actually being greeted by the sounds of Weezy jamming on his fender.

But on the same day Kanye changed his name to Martin Louis the King Jr., Lil Wayne has confirmed that he is in fact releasing a rock album and it will be ready to hit stores come April 7th. While details pertaining to the effort still remain a bit sketchy, it will reportedly be entitled Rebirth and will be headed by its first single, “Prom Queen”, which will conveniently be available for stream beginning tomorrow. Or you could just check out it below, courtesy of Yo Raps

No word on what this means for Tha Carter IV, which Wayne has reportedly been at work on since late last year, though given that his tour dates will soon be coming to a wrap, he’ll have plenty of free time on his hands in the coming months.

“Prom Queen”

Lil Wayne 2009 Tour Dates:

01/28 - Phoenix, AZ @ US Airways Center

  3. TV On The Radio? This sounds more like a Chris Rock skit…at least if it were, I could laugh with it and not at it.

  4. Define “this market” please. Because I have no fucking idea what connects TV on the Radio and Lil Wayne.

  5. I comend him for trying, besides TV on the Radio there is no one else in this market. Unlike TV on the Radio, this really sucks. He should put in a Living colour record to see how its done.

  6. Dear God, he better murder the masses on The Carter IV, because this could kill his career!

    Tentative Title:
    Shinoda Battles The Gay Robots
