If you’re like us, tomorrow’s big game - don’t want to get sued - can’t come soon enough. And no, it’s not because we’re hardcore Cardinals fans or enjoy John Madden’s colorful commentary. It’s the musical aspect that has had us jazzed for weeks.
But it wasn’t until mid-week, when we learned of some of the other ear pleasing sounds, in addition to The Boss’ halftime show spectacular, that we hit a whole new level of anticipation over what would be resonating from our television sets come Sunday. And who would of thought that none other than Billy Corgan, yes the same Billy Corgan who fronts The Smashing Pumpkins, was the reason behind this.
As we learned on Tuesday, with the help of Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, Corgan recently penned a brand new track for Hyundai’s Super Bowl spot. Entitled “FOL”, the rock driven number will attempt to tap into the market of Smashing Pumpkins’ pro-heckling, often berated fan base by providing the soundtrack behind a video of Hyundai’s Genesis Coupe driving around on a speed track. Yes, it’s a commercial and yes, you could certainly call this the latest example of Corgan “selling out,” but ultimately, “FOL” isn’t half bad.
Plus, there’s the fact that Hyundai will be giving away the track as a free download beginning Sunday. Click here and then read the below directions, courtesy of our friends over at Hipsters United:
