Ah, Lil Wayne. He never does disappoint. After all, between the ESPN appearances and work on his forthcoming rock epic, aka as follow up to 2008′s blockbuster, Tha Carter III, in just the last week alone the Louisiana native is giving Mr. West a serious run for his money as most fascinating hip-hop star. Wait, what’s that? Lil Wayne and rawwwk in the same sentence? That’s the word on the street, at least according to Drake.

“Wayne’s coming out with a new album, it’s a rock album. A complete rock album. I have a song on there,” the Toronto based hip-hopper revealed in a recent interview with Much Music. The reason for this drastic change in style? It looks like Kanye’s recent innovations had a role, as Drake went on to note: “It’s something different in just that whole 808′s and Hearbreaks, just throwing individuals off.

Ok, to be fair, the whole story sounds like something out of a tabloid, with one lonely quote evolving into a story that may only be 1/10 correct. And as Pitchfork points out, the source of the story musical resume features little more than a remix and previous guest appearance on Wayne’s “Ransom”.  But Weezy does have a history with the guitar, as evident in the video below. Could this be the next revelation in the man’s catalogue ala Stankonia was for Outkast? I guess we’ll soon find out enough.

All this being said, we do know what sing for sure. Lil Wayne is currently spending a majority of his time on the start-studded “I Am Music” tour. Tickets fore the remaining shows are available via Ticketmaster.com.
