Bonnaroo unearths 2009 lineup…and it’s really good!
10:25 p.m. Update: We can officially confirm that what you see below is indeed the lineup for Bonnaroo 2009…
For all that was last week’s Coachella lineup extravaganza, the lineup announcement for this year’s edition of the Bonnaroo Music Festival came without a hitch - almost anti-climatic of sorts. But that’s not to say the acts scheduled to descend on Manchester, Tennessee between June 11 and 14, 2009 can be described in the same way because well, as evident below, that’s certainly not the case at all.
Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Phish, Beastie Boys, Nine Inch Nails, and Wilco will head this year’s festival, while David Byrne, Elvis Costello, Al Green, Paul Oakenfold, The Mars Volta, The Decemberists, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs are among other acts of note. All in all the 2009 bill looks something like this:
Bruce Spiringsteen & The E Street Band * Phish (2 Shows) * Beastie Boys * Nine Inch Nails * David Byrne * Wilco * Al Green * Snoop Dogg * Elvis Costello (Solo) * Erykah Badu * Paul Oakenfold * Ben Harper and Relentless7 * The Mars Volta * TV on the Radio * Yeah Yeah Yeahs * Gov’t Mule * Andrew Bird * Band of Horses * Merle Haggard * MGMT * moe. * The Decemberists * Girl Talk * Bon Iver * Béla Fleck & Toumani Diabate * Rodrigo y Gabriela * Galactic * The Del McCoury Band * Of Montreal * Allen Toussaint * Coheed and Cambria * Booker T Jones & Drive-By Truckers * David Grisman Quintet * Lucinda Williams * Animal Collective * Gomez * Neko Case * Down * Jenny Lewis * Santogold * Robert Earl Keen * Citizen Cope * Femi Kuti and the Positive Force * The Ting Tings * Robyn Hitchcock & The Venus 3 * Grace Potter and the Nocturnals * Kaki King * Grizzly Bear * King Sunny Adé * Okkervil River * St. Vincent * Zac Brown Band * Raphael Saadiq * Ted Leo and the Pharmacists * Crystal Castles * Tift Merritt * Brett Dennen * Mike Farris and the Roseland Rhythm Revue * Toubab Krewe * People Under the Stairs * Alejandro Escovedo * Vieux Farka Touré * Elvis Perkins In Dearland * Cherryholmes * Yeasayer * Todd Snider * Chairlift * Portugal. The Man * The SteelDrivers * Midnite * The Knux * The Low Anthem * Delta Spirit * AA Bondy * The Lovell Sisters * Alberta Cross
Four-day passes will go on sale beginning Saturday, February 7th via Bonnaroo.com. A limited number of general admission tickets will be available for purchase starting at $224.50 plus applicable fees. After these tickets are sold out, tickets will continue to be sold for $234.50 and finally $249.50. Tickets will only be available at each price range while supplies last.
The final lineup will total over 120 bands and over 20 comedians performing on 13 stages over four days, meaning more artists will be added in the coming weeks and months. Be sure to keep checking back to our Bonnaroo Outlook page for all the latest news.

Someone’s got their panties in a bunch!
please add pretty lights, disco biscuits, sound tribe….im going either way cus of animal collective and the Phish late night show. gonna be the heat
You Flavor-of-the-Month clowns with your Coachella vs. Bonnaroo shite make me sleepy. Don’t forget who was here first. So Bonnaroo can pull the big guns and pay top $ for Bruce, Max, and that gay dude with the pink sax. Sure Bruce is good , but I’ll watch that on HBO if I’m so inclined. Coachella at least has the balls to unleash Leonard Cohen, Throbbing Gristle and Paul Weller and listen to most of the kids cry when they don’t have the slightest idea who influenced half the plastic acts they idolize.
Apples and Oranges, for f#$$’s sake!
oh dear lord, its sick
lollapalooza better be as good.
The bottom half of this poster does absolutely zero for me. Coachella is still better.
idk can somebody tell me why this is sooo much better than coachella? I never thought i would say this but Coachella has better headliners
Uhmmm damn, I’m really glad that I’m going to both festivals, this year.
All my Phishy dreams are coming true.
great lineup! went the last two years and bummed i can’t go but there is always next year…what continues to amaze me is the amount of diversity at this festival…something for everyone and the top 20 on the board along with really the whole lineup is all over the place…probably missing one or two late night hip hop acts b/c snoop will probably be what or which stage…all they have really is the knux and people under the stairs so perhaps a Q-Tip add or something like that, along with a bunch of cafe acts and one or two other big ones…remember last year Disco Biscuits/Chris Rock/ZPZ/MSTRKRFT were all added late…everyone keep the roo vibes going and i’ll be back in ‘10!!!!!
This festival continues to amaze me every year.
Silversun Pickups.
Please.
ummmmm NIN?
Awesome Lineup.
I’ve been thinking that the beastie boys would be at lolla ‘09 for awhile now, and seeing them on the ‘roo lineup strengthens my belief.
Could be a pretty incredible lineup for the late night shows. On first glance… Mars Volta, Animal Collective, Girl Talk, NIN, maybe Of Montreal and their ridiculous stage show. And it seems like Phish will do a headliner and a late night. I think there’s still room for a late MMJ add though…
wow… just wow. Words cannot even describe my awe right now
hmm… I think I might have to skip coachella for this lineup! it’s sooooo good.
wow we only have 79 of the over 120… still a lot of bands to come
I agree with another poster. VERY POOR with no Umphrey’s (NEW CD) and no Disco
For anyone who doesn’t believe us, head here: http://www.bonnaroo.com/artists.aspx
since TVOTR is playing both coachella and bonnaroo i hope that means they are playing lolla too!
i love you bonnaroo!:)
i am so excited. everyone should watch portugal the man. oh my god. im freakin out.
no disco biscuits thats horrible
“why must this festival take place on the opposite side of the continent from me?”
+1
I wonder if this has something to do with why they (Phish) are only playing at a theater in St. Louis instead of somewhere much larger
I have some friends who are big time Phish fans who are not going to Bonaroo they are going to Phish’s individual shows. I think it will sell out but not right away and I also think if It sells out Bruce Springsteen will have just as much to do with it as Phish wll
i wouldnt be surprised with 2 weeks
with Phish on the lineup alone…..under a month wouldn’t be a horrible guess.
Wow… just wow - I never post that much always more of an observer, but damn that is a LINEUP! Def better than coachella in my opinion - this is going to be very hard to beat!
Anyone want to take bets on how fast this will sell out?
why must this festival take place on the opposite side of the continent from me?
f’ing sweet. Now if All Points West could give any indication its still alive, or better yet rival this, i’ll be a happy man
I would certainly hope so, as it lays now, Bonnaroo is certainly going to draw they’re fair share. Then again Bonnaroo also always saves plenty, including all the comedians.
if this isnt true i will cry because that is amazing
Bruce, if what the rumors are saying about Coachella, there’s a lot of mystery surrounding why it didn’t come out on time. For one, if Soundgarden were actually supposed to be on that line up, then I’d say there would be an edge over this.
I’m thinking Coachella has something up its sleeves.
Yeah i might go to rothbury if the lineup is good since its only a two hour drive from where I live where Bonaroo is like 11 hours but damn I am tempted
looks great, but waiting on Rothbury
If anyone at Coachella knew this I see why they didn’t want to put their line-up out right before this.
thank you god.
Lollapalooza better have The Replacements, The Kinks, and Jane’s Addiction if it’s going to punch this at all. Coachella has something to run from, indeed, and this is quite possibly a rock festival line up to rival the likes of Woodstock. I’m breathless. I’m…eating crow.
love it
This is so much better than Coachella.
Spiringsteen, David Byrne, Animal Collective
St. Vincent, Elvis Costello, Andrew Bird
TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Girl Talk, Yeasayer, The Knux
i have a boner…..BEASTIE BOYS!
unreal lineup….cant wait!
IMO, archie couldn’t have said it any better…
I’m definitely drooling over this…
Damn Coachella and Bonaroo have some great lineups. I hope the annual festival that I attend Lollapalooza can match this
going to this.
if this lineup is true Im definitely there
wow coachella just got rammed up the ass
I jizzed in my pants.
no fucking shit…i already bought a waka ticket, but there is nothing in hell that can keep me from that lineup…jesus..im in complete awe
i hope to god that is true.
