311 readies an Uplifter
Music’s favorite guilty pleasure will soon be returning with a new collection of drug-inspired, jock-approved hits that should make for some pretty entertaining moshing in the coming months. Yes, nearly a year after the band first announced plans to enter the studio and more than three years since the release of Don’t Tread on Me, 311 will soon return with a brand new studio album.
Entitled Uplifter, the Omaha based outfit’s ninth full-length effort is currently in the final mixing stages and is expected to be unleashed in late spring. Produced by Bob Rock, best known for his work with Metallica and Aerosmith, and recorded at the band’s Hive Studio in North Hollywood, the album will feature either 11 or 12 songs, previously described as “more rock-oriented” with hip-hop and reggae influences.
As alluded to in the part about moshing, the upcoming release will be supported by another chaotic spring and summer on the tour, with 311 currently planning to spend much of April and May at festivals, radio shows, and clubs before hitting the road for its annual Summer United Tour beginning in early June. Specific dates are still forthcoming.
311 2009 Tour Dates:
04/29 - West Palm Beach, FL @ Sunfest
05/12 - Austin, TX @ Austin Music Hall

ive been a 311 fan till i was a wee lil tot and go and see them at least once a year..sad to say their last two albums have completely disappointed me…in fact i even liked dont tread on me more than uplifter with tunes like whiskey and wine somewhat stickin it to their roots…they have now gone completely off track and i have no clue what theyre plans are now but their music has almost completely took a 180 and its a sad thing to see…i still got much love for them and will be seeing a surely good show at red rock on friday…whos got the herb baby??
Go fuck yourself! 311 rocks almost as hard as your mom, including don’t tread on me…douche bag.
I’ve been a 311 fan since i was 15 yrs old. i just turned 30. they came to ft. wayne, IN last year for the first time and it was amazing. with that said, this album needs to bring it. as i mature, so does my need for good music, not commercial garbage which dont tread on me flirted with. unfortunately, hearing that bob rock is on the record, makes me nervous. some, including myself, attribute his working with metallica as their turn in to “sell-outs.” hopefully they can keep it real. if anyone wants good, straight up hip hop mixed with some funk…atmosphere baby, check em out.
best tour ever was the three set with pepper and the wailers. a night under clear skies jam packed with a variety of styles is as good as it gets. MAKE THE ROAD TRIP TO RED ROCKS, its the best show of the year.
They only play 311 day every other year.
Hey, when are they coming to ATL and why aren’t they playing on 311 day??
Their tour with Snoop DO-gg was pretty rad last summer. I look forward to their show every summer.
