Lil Wayne is not your average rapper. Hell, he’s not your average human being. “We are not the same/I am a martian,” he states at the beginning of the Carter III’s “Phone Home” and well, he may be right. Nothing he does is ordinary, much is inexcusable, but in between there’s also a great deal of good. When Katie Couric interviewed the multi-platinum recording artist Wednesday evening, the result was something so bizarrely poignant that you really have to see it to believe it.

Wayne is fucking crazy, let’s just get that out of the way. But he is also very serious about his work. This is what makes him so insane. He is an avid supporter of everything Wayne, lives with no regrets, and stands behind everything he says or does. That’s why when comments like “I am a gangsta, and gangstas don’t ask questions” are spoken through those raspy vocal chords with such sincerity, it’s almost enough to convince your Nana that this is just how the world is nowadays. Luckily, Wayne is an anomaly, and most people are not like him. This is both good and bad. But let’s get on with it.

Watching Katie Couric talk to Lil Wayne is like watching that graphic sex scene at the movie theater next to your grandfather, there is enough tension to go around, but it all ends well. As they progress through conversations on weed, talk about the rapper’s tattoos, and go on a bowling date, Wayne comes across just as innocent and well mannered as he does legit nuts. But enough about it, check it out:

Yeah, if you didn’t think wayne was crazy yet, you certainly do now. Right? But also, would you feel ashamed to bring him in your home for a nice family dinner? He’s pretty well spoken and sweet to “Ms. Katie” insn’t he? When he wants to stop by for supper on a Friday evening, I guess you’ll have to make the call.
