Sasquatch! officially unveils 2009 dates and some other important stuff

After captivating the festival circuit with the likes of The Cure, R.E.M., The Mars Volta, and enough indie acts to result in a mass influx of hipsters descending on George, Washington last spring, the Sasquatch! Music Festival will look to the same in 2009 when it returns for its eight go around later this year.

Scheduled to take place Memorial Day Weekend (May 23-25, 2009) at the Gorge Amphitheatre, this year’s Sasquatch! promises to be as “exciting and diverse as ever,” according to organizers. In addition to the three-day bill, which will officially be announced one week from today, Tuesday, February 17th, the festival will also include a newly expanded Comedy & Dance Tent, featuring comedians during the day and dance-friendly entertainment at night.

As for some early lineup scuttle, if you head over to our Sasquatch! Outlook page, you’ll notice that Kings of Leon, Peter Bjorn & John, The Avett Brothers, Sun Kill Moon, and comedian Todd Barry are confirmed, while The Decemberists, Grizzly Bear, Animal Collective, Monotonix, The Walkmen, John Vanderslice, and Tobacoo make up those currently rumored.

Needless to say, we’re pumped.

  1. I have this sneaking suspicion that NIN will be headlining. Hmmmm we shall see…

  3. It’s about time! Glad to finally have my festival of choice officially acknowledged. Though I’m slightly concerned by the phrase “as diverse as ever”. I always thought of Sasquatch as being decidedly less diverse than other fests (in a good way). That is, you could count on Sasquatch to exclude certain acts. I won’t name any names. I hope that is still the case.
