Mötley Crüe, Alice in Chains, and Korn will Rock the Range in 2009

Other than your Coachellas and Bonnaroos of the world, no 2009 lineup has been more anticipated than that of Rock on the Range. After thrilling rock heads in 2007 with a debut lineup featuring the likes of Velvet Revolver, Evanescence, and Papa Roach, only to return one year later with an equally stellar bill, highlighted by Disturbed, Kid Rock, Seether, and the reunion of Stone Temple Pilots, Rock on the Range will look to make its third edition a charm when it hits Columbus, Ohio between May 16th and May 17th.

And based of the festival’s recently unveiled lineup, it certainly appears Rock on the Range will do just that. Mötley Crüe, Alice in Chains, Korn, and Slipknot will head this year’s bill, while Avenged Sevenfold, The Used, Atreyu, Chevelle, and Buckcherry make up others act of note. All in all, the 2009 lineup looks something like this:

Adelitas Way, Alice in Chains, All That Remains, Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold, Billy Talent, Black Stone Cherry, Blue October, Buckcherry, Burn Halo, Cavo, Charm City Devils, Chevelle, Crooked X, Drive A, Early Pearl, Flyleaf, Framing Hanley, Halestorm, Hoobastank, Hurt, Korn, The Leo Project, Mötley Crüe, Pop Evil, Rev Theory, Saliva, Saving Abel, Shinedown, Sick Puppies, Slipknot, Static X, State of Shock, Trapt, The Used, X Factor 1

According to 99.7 The Rock, who officially announced the lineup earlier this afternoon, this year’s festival will feature 36 bands, which we’re at right now. However, according to the festival’s website, more acts are to be announced. So take it for what it’s worth…

Pre-sale tickets will be available on Saturday, February 14th, while general admission tickets will go on sale one week later on February 21st via Ticketmaster.com.

  1. Hi Guru, what made you want to write on ? I was wondering, because I have been thinking about this since last Saturday.

  2. its called irony and sarcasm dumbass

  3. I have to say I’m a little disappointed with the lineup. Saving Abel, Saliva, Hoobastank, and Flyleaf. No thank you! I am excited to see Korn, AIC, Slipknot, All That Remains, Chevelle, Static X, and Shinedown. The front man for AIC better be damn good. Definitely not as good of a lineup as last year. Not even close.

  4. With that logic Ken, a bomb should be dropped on you as well!

  5. i personally think anyone who says a bomb should drop on people should have a bomb dropped on them

  6. hey eric…chill out dude really put a bomb on the festival…to each their own man.
I personally dislike 95% of the bands on this lineup but I live down the street from this thing so I will go to see Korn and Alice In Chains and I will let the crazy rock metal heads have their day and not judge or bother them.
    It’s only music that’s all I’m saying.

  7. While there are some acts on this list I’d care little about (Hoobastank, Saving Abel, Buckcherry, Saliva, etc.) - if I had the cash and the gas I’d love to see what’s left of KoRn and AIC.

Not to mention this child star laden brutal rock bravado package Crooked X, and of course Static X who put on a great show for Ozzfest 2007.

“only to return one year” –> “only to return one year later”
    “Disturb” –> “Disturbed”
“between May 16th and May 17th” –> “May 16th and 17th” or “on May 16th and 17th” or “this May 16th and 17th” or “May 16-17″

  9. yuck. seriously. if a bomb fell on top of this festival, the world would be a better place.

  10. That’s fine prices weren’t bad for the bands they bring…Most of these bands could/do sell tickets for their shows at about the same price

  11. Kevin, word on the street is that the prices will be the same as last year.

  12. Man, with this line-up the tickets better be alot cheaper this year.

  13. Can I put you in the electric chair Cody?

  14. i think id rather be electrocuted than go to this

  15. I am a big Alice and Chains fan, but I WOULD NEVER pay to see this. No Layne no Chain

  16. thats a helluva lineup
