The White Stripes are still alive, playing Conan’s last show!
When word came yesterday that The White Stripes would be playing Conan O’Brien’s last night as host of Last Night with Conan O’Brien, the first thought that popped into my mid was the image of Max Weinberg, not Meg White, drumming away to “Icky Thump”. Imagine how epic the February 20th performance would be if Jack White actually had a good drummer backing him up?
I kid, I kid. We all love The White Stripes, especially Conan. He appeared in the band’s video for “Denial Twist”, while in 2007, the duo served as his musical guest and interviewee in 2007. So perhaps it’s only appropriate that Meg and Jack White will end their self-imposed on February 20th and help Conan cap off his late late night career with their first joint performance in over a year.
No word on who will be dealing the music on Conan’s first night as host of the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien come June 1, 2009, but based on history, he certainly has set quite a precedent for himself.

South Park needs to shape up. That last season blew dong.
haha maybe that should be a south park episode
Does anybody realize that they did a huge cross Canada tour. Canada made Meg go crazy!
because the last time they cancelled their tour about 10 shows into a 30 or 40 show run and said the meg was suffering from anxiety so the odds were that jack would just make records with the raconteurs, loretta lynn or whatever else he wanted to do
y does everyone begin to think the white stripes have split up all the time. its an album every 2 years get used to it.
You didn’t even mention their residency on his show in 2003… they played 5 nights in a row one week in support of Elephant when it came out… Conan REALLY likes the Stripes.
He also met them and befriended randomly in a bowling alley in Detroit in 1997 or 1998 before they were famous and before they’d even recorded their first record. So they’re basically destined for each other haha…
i love me some White Stripes. but i also love me some Raconteurs. i think we need to work on cloning Jack so he no longer has to choose who he plays with.
please, please, please….be a Saturday addition for Coachella. The Stripes would be a proper headliner!
hooray meg isn’t crazy. i wasn’t sure we would see them again after they cancelled most of their last tour when they said meg was suffering from anxiety.
hell yeah, i hope their appearance is a warmup for a festival run this summer, ima freak out if i never get to see them live
