M.I.A. is a M.O.M.
The inevitable has finally happened. Maya Arulpragasam, the musician we have come to know and love as M.I.A., can now also herself a mother as well. On Wednesday night, the Grammy’s most pregnant performer ever finally gave birth to her first child, a boy. Per the new mom herself:
Sunday nite I came home from the still in the mood to party, I coulda easily gone out but I went home instead, lucky i did!! Coz my early stage labour kicked in around 2 a.m.
My baby was born Wednesday, he is healthy, fine, beautiful and the most amazing thing ever on this planet, of course I’m his mum!!!
Me and baby are putting our tour dates for 2010 together, and making mixtapes, and figuring out a way to break out of the hospital!
Hopefully the world is been ticking along and i ain’t missed much!
No word on when said tour dates will be revealed, or what magazine will get the first pictures of mom and son. As of now, M.I.A.’s first expected post-birth appearance is scheduled to be at the Oscars on Sunday, February 22nd, where she will perform her nominated song, “O Saya”.
As mentioned, this is the first child for M.I.A. and fiancé, Benjamin Brewer. The pregnancy was announced last October.
Finally! I was so scared that her baby was just gonna pop out while she was performing. How awkward would that have been?
I’m so happy for her!! Having a child is such a blessing (I have 14 myself). I wish her all the best.
