Kings of Leon get in fight, talk new album
Couldn’t get enough of “Sex on Fire”? Want to see what other tricks the Followills have up their sleeves? Then today is your day…sort of. When not getting in backstage brawls, Kings of Leon took some time at the Brit Awards last week to discuss their future endeavors with BBC6 Music (via Gigwise). Among the biggest topic of note? The prospects of a new studio album of course!
But before we move on, a word of caution from frontman Caleb Followill: “I think we are definitely considering doing something that people aren’t gonna expect from us.” Yes, as cousin/guitarist Matthew Followill explained, the followup to last year’s Only by the Night may offer a new sound from the band. “You never know with us, we kinda change it up every record. Everybody always says each record sounds different than the first. I mean, from our first record to our fourth sounds like a different band. It may be a little grungier”
So expect a “grungier,” different, and unexpected (well now you’re expecting it!) record from KOL sometime n 2010. Don’t believe they can do it again? Just remember, they used to look like this, and sound like this. Yes, bands do change, for better or worse.
Plus, the new material will allow Kings of Leon to mix things up in live, which is probably a good thing considering how many dates are currently on the itinerary.

kings of leon’s old stuff was way better, or atleast more my style, thier newer tunes are still good, i just really dig California Waiting, Talhina Sky, Red Morning Light, Spiral Staircase, and songs from the records those are on.
I agree with Tom G, you should have picked Trani, or the songs Tom G mentioned, or Taper Jean Girl.

I’m a little confused by the third paragraph. So they used to sound like “The Bucket” but now the sound is different? If anything, “The Bucket” hints at the new sound from OBTN. Why not choose “Four Kicks” or “Red Morning Light”? And what’s up with the random Radiohead praise? haha
