Festivals in Brief: 80/35, Rothbury, Outside Lands, Voodoo!
Lots going on in the world of music festival land these days. An overwhelming amount in fact. So how about a quick brief, or summary of all the latest goings-on, straight and to the point…
80/35
Iowa’s 80/35 Music Festival has announced plans for a second go around, only this time at a different location. The 2009 edition, scheduled for July 3rd and 4th will take place in downtown Des Moines in the eastern section of Western Gateway Park, surrounding 12th and 13th streets and Grand Ave. and Locust St. No rumors just yet, but pre-sale two-day passes ($60) and VIP tickets ($100) will be available beginning Saturday, March 7th.
Rothbury Music Festival
Still no Rothbury lineup just yet - ugh! - but it should be coming soon. After all, early bird passes ($249.50) will go on sale beginning Saturday 14th, giving attendees an opportunity to pickup discount tickets before the lineup is announced and general sale begins (March 20th) - in other words, the lineup should come sometime between March 14th and 20th. As for current rumors? Nothing all that new, though The String Cheese Incident and STS9 look like safe bets.
Outside Lands Festival
Any doubts of Outside Lands returning for a second go around were put to rest earlier this week when the San Francisco based festival announced its 2009 dates - August 28-30. And while we’re still a long ways off, it does look like we got our first “confirmation.” Expect the Dave Matthews Band to headline Saturday night.
Voodoo Music Experience
It’s pretty hard to believe that it’s only March and it’s already time to start making plans for Halloween, but with New Orleans’ Voodoo Music Experience recently unveiling its 2009 dates, it’s time to do just that. Oh, and thanks to Voodoo’s Twitter, we got an early taste of this year’s lineup - expect The Black Keys to be rocking the Big Easy come Halloween weekend.
