Coachella ‘09 adds Chemical Brothers, Etienne de Crécy, and more…

Update: Guess we spoke too soon. You can also add Plump DJs and Busy P to this year’s lineup…

Well, that didn’t take too long. Just hours after Amy Winehouse canceled her scheduled appearance at this year’s Coachella Music Festival, the folks behind the Indio based event have announced five new additions to this year’s lineup. In its brand new virtual magazine, Coachella Digital, Coachella founder Paul Tollett confirmed that The Chemical Brothers, Etienne de Crécy (and his massive “Cube” stage show), The Orb, Devendra Banhart, and the recently reunited Murder City Devils will join Paul McCartney, The Killers, The Cure, and the slew of other acts currently scheduled to descend on Indio, California from April 17-19.

Tollet also went on to confirm that Los Angeles based dubstep crew Pure Filth will indeed be taking over the Dome on Saturday night with a lineup featuring the likes of Flying Lotus, The Bomb Squad, Kode 9, The Professionals, and Daedelus.

At this point, I think it’s safe to say we now know most everyone scheduled to take part in this year’s Coachella, and baring any late minute Prince addition of epic proportions, it might now be safe to sleep through the night without fearing a late night news break. Then again, this is Coachella we’re talking about…

  1. When are these new adds performing????

  2. Don’t count on proper US tours from Orb and the Chems. Maybe one or two more cities at the most.

  3. Gah! Have the Chemical Brothers or The Orb anounced touring anywhere else in the US yet?

  4. dont forget they still have to announce a replacement for winehouse

  5. Etienne?!?! damn jealous…i’ve been jonesin’ to see him perform live with his awesome box light set-up…hopefully he ends up at a festival i’m going to…Ultra would be a perfect place for a late add

  6. Busy P was also added.

  7. way to demonstrate those pro journalism skills….Prince is spelled with a “c” and i sure would like to “by taking over” choosing the lineup for Coachella next year.

I guarantee I won’t pick lame headliners like the (buzz)killers or (geritol is)the cure!

  8. meh I’d be interested in Devendra.
