Incubus crawls back with hits, rarities, and a tour
Update: Now with tracklist and tour dates…
Just in time for spring, California-rockers Incubus are back with a new greatest hits release. Titled Monuments & Melodies, the upcoming batch of hits will be honored in a two-disc package, with the first disc focusing on the singles and the second unleashing a few unreleased gems. Been there, done that? Hold on, there’s more. Wedged in the digital gift basket, the band has decided to throw in two new songs, as well.
That’s not the best part, however. In celebration of the release, Incubus will be taking on the road again. On the band’s online message board, Renman, the band’s manager, gave a brief
description of the upcoming summer jaunt: “The tour is scheduled to start around the first week of July and continue thru the last week of August. Most of the dates will be in outdoor amphitheaters but the band will likely do a couple of other fun type dates along the way as well. The general public on sale date will likely be in the end of April or early May.”
For those that aren’t so hot on the greatest hits medley, Renman explained, “Prior to the release of the album Incubus fans who pre-order the album will receive a unique code which will allow them to participate in an Incubus Fan presale to buy tickets to an upcoming concert in your city prior to the General Public on sale.” That son of a bitch, huh? If you’re still unsure, here are a few cities he said they’d be hitting:
San Diego, Santa Barbara, Las Vegas, Hollywood, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Denver, KC, Chicago, Indianapolis, ST Louis, Cinci, Detroit, Columbus, Cleveland, Toronto, Boston, New York, New Jersey, Philly, DC, Virginia Beach, Charlotte, Atlanta, Tampa, Miami, Houston, and Dallas.
A few dates have already been confirmed, July 9th in San Diego and August 22nd in Dallas, which means one thing for Chicago: Lollapalooza. Could this be too early and pre-mature of a confirmation? Of course, but that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate, right? Here’s to Incubus in the Windy City come August!
For those that lack patience, here’s some good news. The festivities begin as soon as next week, March 17th to be exact, when radio stations nationwide will receive the new single, “Black Heart Inertia”, which will support Monuments & Melodies, slated for a May 5th release.
Surprised, huh? So are we. After all, wasn’t it just last year that Brandon Boyd insisted the band were taking a much-needed hiatus? Hmm, looks like they got itchy feet. Hopefully, they’ll follow up 2006’s dismal Light Grenades with something that has a little more gravitas.

I personally don’t think Light Grenades was dismal at all. I don’t get it though, they have three songs that make the top 10 rocks hits, but the CD is still considered dismal. That seems a little ridiculous.
I think all of the albums and all of the songs are awesome. What is really great about Incubus is the emotions captured both in lyric and music. I’m so happy they are coming to DC area. I have to say that I’m an older fan and that many older fans (50+) will be there. Myself and my friends are all musicians of different genres and believe there is so much talent from each band member. The best part is that their songs reflect who they are, not a specific music genre, and that enables them to grow. From their music when they were 15 to the music they’ve written now, it is wonderful to hear in their music and lyrics the mastery of skills and the growth the band. Anyone critical in a negative way about the band may be trying to fit Incubus into a box of a type of music. Anyhow, for those who feel the same as I do, let’s welcome the US tour!
I think there are a few more dates to be added, I heard from a reliable source they are finalizing the contract to be in Columbus,OH so I am sure that is not the only one they are working on…
This could mean Outside Lands in SFO too.
I hope they pick a better opener than Simon Dawes…
wow, I thought these guys where taking some time off or some shit? this is great news, YAY!
“dismal” light grenades? i admit it probably wasn’t their best work, but it’s still miles better than most modern rock. i didn’t realize it was pitchfork day at CoS.
no festivals?? was pulling for Rothbury
