Bonnaroo adds Public Enemy, Jimmy Fallon, and a puppet! Get excited!
Update: Add The Dillinger Escape Plan to the list as well…
The title says it all on this one folks. Bonnaroo has added to its 2009 lineup and to say its an eclectic mix would well, probably be one of the biggest understatements in the history of mankind.
On the music front, Public Enemy, Ani DiFranco, Amadou & Miriam, Shadows Fall, and Heartless Bastards, highlight the acts now scheduled to descend on Manchester, Tennessee from June 11-14, 2009, joining the previously announced likes of Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Phish, Beastie Boys, Nine Inch Nails, and slew of countless others. Others now confirmed to bring the tunes include Tony Rice Unit, High On Fire, Passion Pit, Dillinger Escape Plan, Wailing Souls, The Itals, Murs, White Rabbits Janelle Monáe, Hockey, Pretty Lights.
Then there’s the newly announced comedy portion of the lineup, or should I say “The Comedy Sweet,” presented by Butterfinger. This year, Bonnaroo will feature a “dynamic host of national headlining comics in its ever-popular seated, air-conditioned comedy venue.” Among those taking part? Late night star Jimmy Fallon, Triumph the Insult Comic - yes, a puppet is playing the ‘Roo, Michael Ian Black & Michael Showalter, Aziz Ansari, and Todd Barry.

Of course, you could wait until the next round of additions - yes, there still are more acts yet to be announced, but given the names above, don’t be too shocked if it sells out before then. Just saying…

i really do believe the allman brothers will be playing this year, its the last year they are going to tour and had to cancel last minutes for health issues. so i would say its a fair that they will be added.

High On Fire may have reconvinced me to go this year. You people don’t know what you’re missing.
Fallon? Doing stand-up? I cringe at the thought of it.
passion pit!!!!!!
If it’s not too hot already, then High on Fire will melt your face.
I agree - the wait was way too long for these sub-par additions. All in all it is still a great overall lineup, but the expectations were set way too high for these ads. I’m still holding out hope that there will be another big name added.
this announcement sucks!! wtf is this shit?! they had such a solid lineup to start with and then they make us wait 7 weeks and this is who they announce??? i looooove bonnaroo but this is lame. period.
Gah.
These really don’t excite me.
High on Fire!
One can only hope…
Since Jimmy Fallon is going to be there and this is a week after the Roots play with Public Enemy at the Roots Picnic, I feel it is reasonable to assume the Roots will be the backing band for PE here as well. SICK.
