Open Thread: All Points West ‘09

We haven’t had one of these in a while, but then again we haven’t been hours away from the announcement of a lineup this big in some time. Here’s what we know: All Points West will announce its 2009 lineup tomorrow morning at 7:00 a.m. EST. At this point, Tool and Coldplay look to be locks to headline, while if you belive APW’s Twitter, Björk, Cursive, and Steel Panther are some of the other names that could appear. Of course, we’ll know tomorrow morning - or earlier, depending on any leaky faucets, and as always check back to Consequence of Sound as we’ll be posting the lineup as soon as its out there.

In the meantime, feel free to use this post to share your hopes, dreams, predictions, and any news you’ve found.

  1. Ok, it’s 7am, where is lineup?

  2. Oh yeah…. could Ed O’Brien’s comments mean that Radiohead is coming back to APW??? It’s highly unlikely, but how the hell did they get them for two nights last year? Yorke and Bjork on a little duet action…. top village!

  3. There were a few additions last year after the initial drop…. I think they added Ben Harper at that point. Either way, no matter what problems this festival had, it was still a good time (as long as you didn’t take the Light Rail!).

I’m still psyched for this festival!

  4. I’d expect the entire lineup for the most part. There may be a few small additions after this announcement, but I feel like the bulk will be announced tomorrow.

  5. do you think they are going to announce just headliners in the morning or could we be given a couple other small names?

  6. I think because less artists play APW compared to most other festivals it’s not as difficult for them to keep the line up from leaking.

  7. …and frustrating.

  8. Wow, less than 12 hours from the announcement and not one solid confirmation? Pretty impressive.

  9. :( im still hoping. they are opening for U2 in september, and it would just be cool to see them not at MSG again… i hated that show, seating is a buzzkill for me depending on the band, and for muse it didnt feel right. they should play randalls island, if you can even do that anymore.

  10. I wouldn’t expect to see Muse at any US festivals this year. Without an album drop and no rumors confirmed, I think they’ll stay pretty dormant until the tour this fall.

  11. i can see muse playing, i know they dont start there fall headlining tour until mid october, but they would be awesome to see in this setting.

  12. Also if APW somehow gets My Bloody Valentine I will flip my shit.

  13. I would be down with any of the rumors ending up on the line up. I’ve got my fingers crossed for the flaming lips and a better under card this year. Last year was fun but at times it did seem like a Radiohead show with a bunch of openers.

  14. That works out perfectly, tool for me one day and coldplay for the girlfriend the next

  15. i’m looking forward to apw again this year. i think they can up the middle tier since they don’t need to fork the money for 2x radiohead. and a lot of new york bands have made big moves recently so expect to see a lot of them. vampire weekend, white rabbits, tvotr, walkmen, or nj bands like titus andronicus and the gaslight anthem

  16. i hope i have enough money to go to apw and lolla the following week.
