Rancid will actually Let The Dominoes Fall

Rancid will actually Let The Dominoes Fall

Well, lookie here. On the same day Tim Armstrong’s former flame announced a new album of her own, the frontman and his fellow Rancid bandmates have not only dropped details pertaining to their long-awaited - key word: long - 7th LP, but have also actually come up with a release date. Who would have thunk it?

Entitled Let The Dominoes Fall and due for release on June 2nd via Hellcat Records, the Brett Gurewitz produced effort will feature 19 tracks, and get this, include the talents of none other than Booker T. Jones, leader of instrumental rock band Booker T and the MG’s, on organs! Yes, Booker T. Jones and organs will be appearing on Rancid’s new album. Time for another who would have thunk it?

Of the 19 tracks, many appear to be heavy in the political front - another shocker - with topics such as the current economic meltdown and the war in Iraq at focus. The album will be headed the debut of its first single, “Last One To Die”, on April 7th via Rancid’s MySpace page.

So, basically, we’ll have a fairly good idea on April 7th whether Rancid is actually telling the truth this time around. Forgive me for my skepticism, but as a proud member of of Rancid Anonymous, it’s kind of hard to forget, well, the last two years of broken promises. Then again, when the sounds of “Last One To Die” blaze from my speakers come the 7th, all will probably be forgiven.

Oh, and in case you forgot, Rancid will be touring with Rise Against this summer, and will also be making an appearance at Summerfest, Rock on the Range Canada, and maybe Lollapalooza.
