Now at this point you’re probably saying to yourself, “Hey, wait a minute. How can Winehouse’s ‘Island Life’ performance mark her live comeback? Isn’t she scheduled to take part in this year’s Coachella one month earlier?” Well, she was, but according to spokesman Chris Goodman via Billboard.com, ” in light of current legal issues,” those current plans have been scrapped – or in other words, Winehouse has canceled her Coachella appearance. The legal issues at hand appear to relate to charges brought against Winehouse last week after she allegedly punched a fan. Because of the these charges, the 25-year-old will not receive a U.S. visa, and thus, won’t be able to travel to Indio in mid-April for Coachella.
As for what this means for said festival? Well, we were already expecting a few more additions to this year’s lineup, but the cancellation of Winehouse leaves a serious void in an already semi-weak Saturday lineup. Let’s just say organizers have their work cut out of them, though considering some of the current rumors we’ve been hearing, it looks like we won’t have much to worry about.
