Eminem returns with new single…unfortunately
Now that Eminem has finally pinned down a release date for his Relapse, the rapper is in full-fledged publicity mode, which was kicked off today with the release of the album’s first single, “We Made You”, and subsequent music video.
So, the result?
Let’s just say it’d probably be best to pretend what you’re about to see doesn’t actually exist. Ok, so perhaps we are being a bit harsh, but for a musician who has dished out quite a bit of gems in his lifetime and is making his first new release in almost five years, the last thing we were looking for was another three-and-a-half minute diatribe directed at celebrities.
Yes, this is part of Eminem’s make up, and by no means is “We Made You” without its redeeming qualities - the rhymes are smart, the video featuring a fat Jessica Simpson and an overly voluptuous Sarah Palin is hilarious. But it’s not 1999 anymore, it’s 2009, and the fan-base that first embraced the middle school-risque humor is no longer in middle school.
Here’s hoping the first single isn’t a sign of things to come…

Stop hating on Em. That was hillarious.
just awful
I didn’t read any of the other comments but I’m hoping people are with me when I say “what the f*ck is that.” Did it really take this long to come up with that? Major downgrade from “Crack A Bottle”. Period.
I don’t think I have ever listened to one of his 1st singles off any album once I bought the album but this does make me a little nervous given how much encore sucked.
His first three albums are still great rap CD’s and I am really hoping he gets back to those ways and I figured with the break he would.
Here’s hoping though that with Em and Dre releasing new CD’s this year they get together with Snoop/Cube/Xzibit/MC Ren and make another Up In Smoke Tour later in the year!
i know all of his debut singles have been in this vein, but this one is probably the worst. and i can’t agree more with the idea of the original audience moving on. i remember loving “My Name Is” and “The Real Slim Shady”, but not the rest of those records (even though looking back the rest of those albums were pretty good). while my tastes have shifted since then, i can still appreciate what those songs gave to me at the time.
and a sarah palin reference? really?
^^ and by Encore not working that well, you mean that it only sold 5 million copies.
Not to sound like a broken record, but if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. This is most likely one of the worst songs on the album (much like the 1st singles he releases on all of his other releases). I expect that the new album will in no way disappoint. See ‘Crack a Bottle’ for an example
I find the video and song hilarious
Video should be working again…
Well, it didn’t work all that well on Encore because that album is trash and its MTV single isnt very good. This one isnt very good either, but for some reason I feel like the rest of the album is going to be excellent.
Not his best work, but relax. He is following a formula that has worked (except Encore) in the past. What did you expect? Everyone of his albums debut singles has been exactly this. A better judge of what to expect will be the second single. That is where he released his “The Way I Am” and “Cleaning Out the Closet” singles.
Wow guys, Eminem has put a single like this on every single one of his albums. Whats the big deal? Sure its not as good as Without Me or The Real Slim Shady but both of those song were just as lacking of real content and an obvious pandering to MTV audiences. Doesn’t really bother me, Em and Dre know how to make money.
what a shitty song and video…..
Wow, a whole song about other people. It’s not 1999 anymore.
Slimshady is losing it, the kids have grown up and moved on to better music and all he has to account for now is a single that mentions freaks like Jessica Simpson. Vanilla Ice could do no worse. Tragic. The man has lost his intensity.

Wow. Even with my expectations lowered by both his last album and the above post, this was terrible. Wish I could get the last 4 minutes of my life back.
