Blur plans hipster friendly comeback

Blur plans hipster friendly comeback

At least one thing is for sure as it relates to Blur’s upcoming reunion shows: the legnedary British quarter knows what’s in. In support of its two-day stint at London’s Hyde Park (July 2 and 3), the band has hand-picked eight, yes eight, openers, all of whom you’ve probably heard of. According to Gigwise.com, Foals, Crystal Castles, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, and Friendly Fires will join Blur for its July 2nd performance, while Vampire Weekend, Deerhoof, Florence and the Machine, and Amadou and Mariam are tapped to open the following day.

Speaking of the shows to NME, Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koening offered up the biggest understatement:

“I think the Hyde Park show will be pretty phenomenal. People have been waiting a long time to see Blur reunite and it’s flattering to be invited to play at all. This will be my first time seeing Blur live and I’m psyched.”

Unfortunately, unless you already have tickets, the only chance of seeing this performances will be to either hop a fence and risk serious jail time, or wait for videos to surface on YouTube…
