How does a festival that already kicks ass, kick even more ass? By having David Byrne curate a stage!
On the evening of Friday, June 12th, the Talking Heads frontman turned solo artist extraordinaire will host recent collaborators Santigold and the Dirty Projectors, along with St. Vincent, Ani DiFranco, and Katzenjammer for what will be the first artist-curated stage in the eight-year history of the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.
Sounds like quite the task, eh Mr. Bryne?
“This was an easy one. I basically reeled off a list of what I was listening too recently or who I had seen live recently and [Bonnaroo co-founder and producer Ashley Capps] and Co did the rest. It’s not like these folks need me to introduce them to a wider audience, at least I don’t think they do…I’m just thrilled they’ll be added to the festival lineup”
Well, actually, only two of Byrne’s five selections – Dirty Projectors and Katzenjammer – will need to be added to the lineup. The other three are already scheduled to take part in this year’s ‘Roo. Still, that’s two more additions, which when coupled with some of the recent, yet-to-be-announced confirmations like Phoenix, Tobacco, Ben Sollee, and Erin McCarley, sure doesn’t leave one thinking this lineup is anywhere close to being finalized.
Of course, Byrne won’t just be playing curator during Bonnaroo; he is also scheduled to offer up his own set that evening, where he’ll be performing the “Songs of David Byrne and Brian Eno”.
Yes, it just got even better.

this festival doesnt hold a candle to outside lands…cost me $1200 for 2 airfres, 4 nights hotel and 2 -3day passes…400 cheaper than Roo tickets and a better set of headliners..
Does this mean he will have his own stage? or will he take over the main stage? does this mean he is headliner friday night? So lost….
oh gosh
genius. this festival kicks ass
Goddamn brilliant
