Open Thread: Austin City Limits
Later tonight, or tomorrow - depending on whether organizers like sleep as much as we do, Austin City Limits will officially shell outs its 2009 lineup. In anticipation of the unveiling, we figured now would be a good time to open it up to the reader. Feel free to use this post to share your hopes, dreams, predictions, and any news you’ve found.
As we have previously reported, Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, Beastie Boys, Kings of Leon, and Sonic Youth are among those currently confirmed to take part in this year’s ACL, which is set to from October 2-4 in Austin’s Zilker Park, as are The B-52s, Ghostland Observatory, John Legend, Mos Def, Thievery Corportation, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Passion Pit, and The Knux.

The rumor of DMB being dropped for WS was a fictional want. It only becomes a rumor if you are dumb enough to believe the douchebag who started it.

Sorry that ACL does a better job of keeping their acts from leaking information.
considering we dont no the lineup yet… you cant really compare… i know they say these bands are confirmed but theres been rumor of DMB dropping and the Stripes taking there place we’ll wait and see, the only ones we know for sure are pearl jam picture on the official website and thievery cooporation and B-52s all the cartoon pics were on the website. As for the lolla lineup, not much at the top, but the mid tier is strong im really hoping ACL gets lupe fiasco

i’ve been to both acl and coachella and i’m thinking lolla this year.

The Lollapalooza messageboard confirmation thread was 1000 better because I was actually willing to compile all the information in the first post. That, and the bands were much better :p

Actually, they confirmed Spearhead yesterday.
If those headliners are true, that would make for some easy choices. Cure, Beasties, PJ would be pretty solid. Of course, they’re not exactly unique.
woo hoo first to confirm the michael franti and spearhead confirmation on the austincitylimits.com/forum confirmed acts thread and i am proud to say the lineup will indeed be this:
Friday: The Cure/Kings of Leon
Saturday: Dave Matthews Band/Beastie Boys
Sunday: Pearl Jam
I know they’ve done ACL more than a few times, but I’d love to see Wilco come back to Texas. The Eels, the Flaming Lips, Everything Absent or Distorted, and Dawes would be great.
