In the latest example of the never ending, yet unbelievably awesome absurdity that is Twitter, it now appears that the internet sensation will soon be hosting its very own concert. And no, we don’t mean Twitter will be hanging a banner at some random music venue; on April 11th, San Francisco’s Moonalice will actually perform a real-time, virtual Twitter concert.

Just three days ahead of the release of its debut LP, the Bay Area jam-rockers, which features GE Smith and Barry Sless, will take to Little Fox Theatre for a performance at Redwood City. Immediately following each song during the show, Moonalice’s sound team will take that song’s audio, digitize it, upload it and “Tweet” about its availability — all before the group finishes playing the very next song. By doing so, at least according to Moonalice, it will mark the first time an artist will have broadcast a concert in real time on the Twitter platform.

In addition to its Twitter fun, Moonalice will also be hitting the road for your standard, run-of-the-mill performances from now until mid-September.
