Billy Bragg, Tom Morello, Mavis Staple joins George Wein’s Folk Festival

As if there weren’t already enough reasons to attend attend George Wein’s Folk Festival this summer - in case you missed our first post on the topic George Wein’s Folk Festival is the new name for the legendary Newport Folk Festival, Mr. Wein and company have added a few more additions to its 50th anniversary lineup…

…and much like the initial announcement, today’s round of additions is mind-blowingly solid. Billy Bragg, Mavis Staple, Tom Morello, as The Nightwatchman, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Brett Dennen, Deer Tick, David Rawlings Machine, and Guy Clark are now set to join the previously announced likes of Pete Seeger, Fleet Foxes, Ben Kweller, and The Decemberists at Newport, Rhode Island’s Fort Adams State Park from July 31-August 2.

As of now, the lineup for George Wein’s Folk Festival currently looks like this:

Arlo Guthrie, The Avett Brothers, Balfa Toujours, Ben Kweller, Billy Bragg, Brett Dennen, Campbell Brothers, Dala Girls, David Rawlings Machine, The Decemberists, Deer Tick, The Del McCoury Band, Elvis Perkins in Dearland, Fleet Foxes, Gillian Welch, Guy Clark, Iron & Wine, Joan Baez, Joe Pug, Josh Ritter, Judy Collins, Langhorne Slim, The Low Anthem, Mavis Staple, Neko Case, The Nightwatchman, Pete Seeger, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Tao Rodriguez-Seeger, Tift Merritt, Tim Eriksen & Shape Note Singers

Tickets for the festival will go on sale beginning Wednesday, May 6th, at 10:00 am EST via folkfestival50.com, or by phone at (800) 514-3849.
