Check Out: The Mars Volta - “Cotopaxi”
Just like they did with Bedlam In Goliath, The Mars Volta have released another uncharacteristically short single for their new album, Octahedron, due out June 23rd. While the length is uncharacteristic, the sound is most definitely still not; It’s still the same ol’ Mars Volta you’re used to, just a condensed version. Imagine cramming the best cuts from De-Loused In The Comatorium into one brilliant little 3:21 minute composition and you’re left with “Cotopaxi”. Definitely not the “Drunkship of Lanterns” (7:07 minutes) or the epic “Cicatriz ESP” (12:29 minutes) that Volta fans are known for.
The video below also offers a sneak peak at what could possibly be the cover for Octahedron although we haven’t been able to confirm it just yet. We’ll keep you posted. Bottom line, the new single is a quick summation of what you can expect from Octahedron and if it is anything like “Cotopaxi”, the middle of June can’t come soon enough.

Sweet.
still sounds too much of a clusterfuck, although after a few listens its definitely growing on me. Wish they would strip it down a bit like deloused but than again its Mars Volta, the exact opposite of stripped down
i do like the sound of this. the music doesnt remind that much of deloused but cedrics singing does.
That was…horrible.
