Matisyahu readies a summer of Light

Matisyahu readies a summer of Light

Despite a number of delays, Matisyahu is still planning to release Light, the followup to 2006’s Youth, sometime before the year is over - presumably as soon as this summer. After all, the Jewish rapper has to have something to support during his extensive summer tour, right?

In addition to a stint on this summer’s festival circuit, the upcoming itinerary includes a number of headlining and co-headlining shows with Les Claypool, K’naan, and Umphrey’s McGee. For the tour, Matisyahu will be joined by his new backing band, Dub Trio, featuring guitarist Aaron Dugan and keyboardist Rob Marscher.

  1. I talked to Dub Trio’s guitarist at their last show and he didn’t seem to think there would be very much heavy involved… I was very disappointed.

  2. I’m interested to see what Dub Trio brings to the table in context of Matis’ backing band. They’re pretty heavy at times.
What happened to his old band Roots Tonic?
