Bonnaroo offers a peak at ‘09 schedule
Considering the mind-blowing epic-ness of its 2009 lineup, it only makes sense for Bonnaroo to give us a little extra time to prepare ourselves for what is to come. Today, organizers did just that with the release of Mind Reader, some snazzy little program that is supposed to help you come up with the perfect lineup by connecting to your Facebook account. A couple clicks later, and you’ll stumble upon this: the holy grail that is the schedule for Bonnaroo 2009.
Take a look, and voice your thoughts below.
We’ll start: Beastie Boys vs. David Byrne? The Decemberists vs. The Mars Volta? Okkervil River vs. Ted Leo? Ouch, the awesomeness of the lineup is finally starting to show its downside! On a cheerful note, anyone else excited for Bruce into Nine Inch Nails?

well Rothbury is run the exact same way usually with the headliner not having anything against them; so, for east coast major fests this is pretty much how things go. I am not a fan of the boss either, but 4.5 hours means I got time to get a shower in and get good and messed up before the NIN, moe., Harper show. Still don’t know which one I am gonna go too. I am not saying that Roo is best run festival ever (personally I prefer All Good), but really a 4.5 hour break isn’t the end of the world, and if you party hard all 4 days that break on Sat will probably be good for you, you could get a nap in.
On Saturday, Bruce has a 3 1/2 hour slot (9p-12:30a). Decemberists/Mars Volta ends at 8:30/8:45 and then the next band post-Bruce doesn’t start til 1am. That leaves 4 1/2 hours(!!!!!!) of downtime at a MUSIC festival!! I’m not a Bruce fan but I’d be open to catching an hour or even 90 mins of Boss just cuz he’s there. But to call this a music festival when there are something like 8 stages and a 4 1/2 hour gap where nobody but Bruce plays is insulting and a waste of money. They should rename the festival Bruce-a-roo, or Phish-aroo also with their 6 1/2 hours of cumulative play time. I’m calling BULLSHIT. Bonnaroo = worst produced/programmed festival in the US.
I guess that is where we differ Captain Asshole. For me anyways Sat is the overloaded day. There pretty much isn’t a time where there are not at least 2 bands I want to see. Not that this doesn’t pretty much happen every year. Better then last years scheduling wise for me. Last year there were only really 4 bands I wanted to see desperately and they all played at the same time.
They have some serious issues this summer. I felt like my heart is getting torn in half the night david byrne and Beasti’s play. How could they do this to me. And then you have NIN, Yeasayer, MGMT, and Ben Harper all conflicting with each other. I would rather sit at my campsite and cry than have to chose which show I am going to
And then they got Public enemy playing at the same time as Phish? I mean, its a no brainer for me to see phish over P.E but i was so looking forward to the Public Enemy show.
I guess I have to chose David Byrne over Beasties being that it is a David Byrne curated stage and that will probably never happen again, but FUCK! Beastie Boys are such a sick show and the fact that I am missing them makes me want to punch a puppy. Bonnaroo… change up your schedule or else ill just have to keep complaining… and you dont want that!
You tell ‘em, Captain Asshole!!
So fucked up man, they completely overloaded Friday. Fucking idiots, ya gahtta spread that shit aaaooouuuut!
I hate to come off like one of the whiners, but the huge conflicts coupled with Bonnaroo’s RIDICULOUS policy of closing all (or almost all) stages while the headliners play bloated sets is giving me a serious case of buyer’s regret. Don’t get me wrong, it’ll be a good time, but for the money I’m spending on airfare plus fest tickets, and the number of bands I was counting on seeing that I’ll now be missing really blows. I’d rather spend the same money to relive this year’s Coachella all over again! At Roo, I’m going to have to twiddle my thumbs for 3 1/2 hours(!) while Bruce plays to wait for NIN to start, then simultaneously miss Yeasayer and MGMT (two of my top picks for the fest). Bonna-BOO!!!
i believe the late night phish show on friday is considered a superjam…
lame that public enemy is playing at the same time.
I’m hoping for Ben Harper at the superjam, i’m not missing nine inch nails on their last tour for a long time.
Lots of clashes this year for my schedule. I can’t believe they stacked dance night all on Friday this year. Pretty Lights Vs. Girl Talk Vs. Oakenfold!?!? MGMT up against NIN and Costello, Mars Volta are killer. Crystal Castles up against Public Enemy kinda sucks too. Despite the scheduling conflicts, Bonnaroo is gonna be spectacular this year.
That schedule kicks ass…of course there are going to be conflicts but everybody knew Ben Harper and NIN were going to be late nights against each other…go to half of each who cares it’s Bonnaroo and I will miss it dearly this year!!!!!!!
Nin and ben harper at the same time? wtf i cant deal with that shit they need to change it. i dont mind 30 mins into each other but no no no
i dont understand how they have Mars, Decemberists, Wilco all playing at the same time, that doesn’t make sense to me
I also apparently cannot spell lol
I am DEVISTATED!
Nine Inch Nails, Ben Harper, Yeasayer and MGMT all at the same time…..I dont know how i’m going to work around that…
i think you need to relink the screen shot it looks like they already changed pretty lights and public enemy
Friday is by far the best day of music ever. Good god, everyone I want to see, no conflicts.
sneaky roo. seems like they don’t want to officially post it though cause there are a couple more bands to be announced and i don’t see a superjam listed either
where the fuck is it?
This is awesome.
Yeah, I’m not finding it anywhere, I must be blind.
Terribly sad bout NIN and moe. playing at the same time. As well as the Costello, Mars Volta overlap. Although this year has been easier for me to plan then in years past.
