The Flaming Lips cave in, will take part in P4K Festival’s “Write the Night”
The moral of this story? Bitch and you’ll get your way.
The Pitchfork Music Festival and the Flaming Lips are pleased to announce new details about the band’s very special festival performance. As previously reported, the veteran psychedelic rockers will close out the 2009 Pitchfork Music Festival on the evening of Sunday, July 19 at Chicago’s Union Park. However, due to popular demand, The Flaming Lips will play selected requests from fans in the “Write the Night” format. All ticket buyers, including those who have already purchased, will be sent a link via email and have the chance to vote on requests, which the band will do their best to accommodate.

You know what else they haven’t played in forever? About 95% of their OWN material from the albums that preceeded the Soft Bulletin. I know I won’t be wasting my votes on cover songs. I’d much rather hear stuff like Turn it On, Be My Head, Bad Days and Brainville. I’d also like to hear more of the serious songs from the last album, like Goin’ On and Cosmic Autumn.
i’m wondering if people will request a cover of “under pressure”
they havent played that in forever
Yes, that is almost certainly what will happen.
Wouldn’t be more likely that they basically play the same set they usually play at festivals (their best songs from their last few albums + she don’t use jelly) since the casual flaming lips fan isnt going to be requesting rarities?
This might be what it takes to get me there. It might only amount to a couple rarities and there will probably still be only about 20 minutes of actual music in their hour-long set, but it would be great to hear anything from Clouds Taste Metallic.
