Blink-182 gets back together for the kids, plans rock shows everywhere!
48 hours ago, if someone were to ask you about Blink-182’s upcoming reunion tour, you’d probably say, “Yeah, they’re apparently planning something, but I really haven’t heard what’s going on with it.”
Well, that changed in a hurry. Just a day after the recently reunited trio dropped details on the tour’s openers and desires to be like Daft Punk and Kanye West, Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker, and Tom DeLonge have returned with, yes, kids, actual tour dates, and lots of them. Beginning July 24th in Las Vegas, Blink-182 will embark on a nearly 50 date North American tour that will see the band loop the U.S. and Canada and then some before ultimately ending in Atlantic City on October 3rd.
As previously reported, Weezer and Fall Out Boy are confirmed to serve as openers, as are Panic at the Disco, The All-American Rejects, Taking Back Sunday, Asher Roth, and Chester French. No word on who will be opening what date.
Tickets, which according to manager Rick Devoe will be affordable - “If you have $20, you get in. No fees or anything,” will go on sale beginning May 30th via LiveNation.com.
“We want this to be an experience that brings the show out to the audience,” Hoppus adds in a conversation with Rolling Stone. That also means the incorporation of aforementioned light show, which will be designed by Martin Phillip.
Beyond the tour dates, the band does plan to begin work on a brand new studio album, and will hit Europe, along with Australia’s Big Day Out Music Festival later this year.
Got it all that? And I haven’t even mentioned the fact Blink-182 played a surprise performance at the launch party for the new T-Mobile Sidekick at Hollywood’s Paramount Pictures last night - the band’s first “official” live gig in four years. Read about it here, watch the clips below.
Then, get excited. It’s time to relive your high school years all over again!
