Hey, look everybody! The Libertines reunited!

Hey, look everybody! The Libertines reunited!

Well, it’s been three months since the rumor of a Libertines reunion hit the web…for the 193rd time. You know what that means, right? It’s time for #194!

Though this time, unlike most of the previous reunion rumors, the most recent resulting from Reading and Leeds offering a massive amounts of money for a headlining performance which almost made Pete Doherty’s head explode before his fellow bandmates said “no,” the English outfit actually added some credence to the possibility by doing the unthinkable at a tribute benefit for promoter Johnny Sedassy last Friday in London  - reuniting. Well, almost.

Three members of The Libertines, Doherty, Carl Barât, and Gary Powell, performed on stage together for the first time in nearly five years. As always when it comes to these things, NME has the details:

The four-some [including Babyshambles bassist Drew McConnel] launched into a frenetic version of early Libertines hit ‘What A Waster’, with Barat and Doherty sharing a microphone as they sang the lyrics.

They then played ‘Up The Bracket’, ‘What Katy Did’, ‘Can’t Stand Me Now’, ‘Time For Heroes’ and ‘Death On The Stairs’, with Doherty leaping into the crowd near the end of the short set.

Noel Gallaghar must be shaking in his boots…

Maybe.

  1. It won’t matter Pete has zero chance of getting a visa. If they reunite it will just be a massive cock tease.
