Pearl Jam to kick off Conan!

Pearl Jam to kick off Conan!

The White Stripes may have helped Conan O’Brien hang up the hat over at the Late Show, but this time around, the Irish-Catholic host is thinking bigger. Real bigger. Come June 1st, Conan will kick off his new job with none other than Seattle’s own, Pearl Jam.

According to the band’s release, they’ll be performing songs off their upcoming studio album, which has yet to be titled, yet to be given a date, and yet to be finished. This should bode well for the band’s upcoming summer tour, not to mention their festival appearances at both Austin City Limits and Outside Lands. Everyone loves new, unreleased material. Right? Right.

Oh yeah, some context for the ill informed. Yes, Conan will be replacing Jay Leno as host of NBC’s The Tonight Show. No, Jay Leno will not be retiring. Yeah, it’s all kind of a big deal.

Let’s just hope bassist Jeff Ament is in good spirits by then.
