The weekend of August 28th sure will be a busy one for the sunshine state, and if you were one those those not too dazzled by the headliners making up that one certain San Francisco festival set to take place that weekend but were of the middle tiers, then perhaps you should head south, to San Diego, for the 25th annual Street Scene.
Black Eyed Peas, M.I.A., Thievery Corporation, and Modest Mouse head the some 40+ acts scheduled to descend on downtown San Diego between August 28th and 29th, while The Dead Weather, Silversun Pickups, Conor Oberst & The Mystic Valley Band, Girl Talk, Band of Horses, and Mastodon make up some of the other highlights.
Also included will be a slew of indie favorites such as Ra Ra Riot, No Age, Deer Hunter, Los Campesinos!, and Matt & Kim. Even Wavves, hot off their big European meltdown, are scheduled to take part.
As it stands now, the bill for Street Scene ‘09 looks something like this:
Band of Horses, Bassnectar, Black Eyed Peas, Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears, Blue Scholars, Cake, Calexico, Carney, Chromeo, Conor Oberst & The Mystic Valley Band, Crocodiles, The Dead Weather, Deerhunter, Devendra Banhart, Donald Glaude, Extra Golden, Grand Ole Party, Holy Fuck, LA Riots, Los Campesinos!, M.I.A., Mastodon, Matt & Kim, Modest Mouse, MSTRKRFT, No Age, Ozomatli, Ra Ra Riot, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Shooter Jennings, Silversun Pickups, Thievery Corporation, Wavves, West Indian Girls, Zee Avi
Two-day passes are currently available via Front Gate Tickets. All other necessary info can be aquired via street-scene.com.

Hey Ghost the point is the headlining spot that the Black Eyed Peas are taking could have been filled in by somebody more worthy that Fergie doing splits on stage so quit talking.
It cracks me up when people bitch about one band from a festival. Complainers, I’ll let you in on a little secret….. Buy a ticket, go see all the other amazing bands (which there are plenty to choose between) and then leave when the Black Eyed Peas take the stage.
Between Silversun Pickups, Band of Horses, Girl Talk, MSTRKRFT, Conor Oberst, Calexico, Chromeo, Dead Weather, Ra Ra Riot, Thievery Corp, MIA, Modest Mouse, and Sharon Jones just to name a few, I’m sure you could find some other bands to entertain you.
I would kill to have a festival like this within driving distance….
That’s a great lineup. I wish I could see the dead weather, cake, mod mouse, MIA, mastodon, silversun, thievery, girl talk. In my opinion this is stacked for just a two day.
what a disappointment for the 25th anniversary…
I’d love to see Thievery Corporation, Cake, Holy Fuck, and Silversun Pickups finally, but I don’t believe it’s worth the price – I’ve already seen Modest Mouse, Matt & Kim, MSTRKRFT, M.I.A., Devendra Banhart, and Ozomatli(like 5 times because they always play here), so I don’t feel compelled to pay all the money for 4 bands.
and the price for the 2 day pass is $40 more than last year!
what a ripoff.
Agreed the Black Eyed Peas blow so bad. They have become such a parody of themselves it is pretty ridiculous.
My goal is to be at any festival that Black Eyed Peas is not performing at.
I thought MIA retired or something.
Damn, now that’s a lineup.
