According to drummer Adam Ficek (via Daily Star), the followup to 2007′s Shotter’s Nation is “less straightforward rock ‘n’ roll and punk. It’s a bit more beat-driven. Some of the stuff coming out was sounding like “Fools Gold” [Stone Roses' 1989 song], which is pretty amazing.”
Yes kids, Babyshambles are aspiring for an early Stone Roses sound.
Of course, this wouldn’t be the early 90s rockers Doherty and Co. could end up emulating before the year is done; last month, Ficek told NME.com that the band has been asked to help out Lee Mavers on a new La’s album.
Needless to say, it could be a busy year for Mr. Doherty. Well, that is if he can continue to stay away from drugs…and swine flu.
