Check Out: Billy Talent’s “Rusted from the Rain” & “Turn Your Back”

By on May 27th, 2009

It has long been said that music from Canada breeds a “love ‘em or hate ‘em” philosophy amongst listeners in the States. While we could sit here and bash the softening of Alanis Morrisette or the onslaught of Nickelback anthems, we’ll keep our focus on Billy Talent, instead. After all, the boys return this summer [...]

Madness finally ready to show the U.S. some love

By on May 27th, 2009

It’s been 10 years since U.K. ska legends Madness released its last album of original material, 1999′s Wonderful. It’s been three years since the band began work on its followup. By on May 27th, 2009

★★★★½

Named after a 16-acre island off the coast of Massachusetts, the group’s third album and follow-up to 2006’s stunning Yellow House, will transport listeners to an island that’s unfamiliar yet cozy. Not only will Trey Anastasio, Mike Gordon, Jon Fishman, and Page McConnell be stopping everywhere under the sun, well, aside from the green fields of Texas, in the coming months, but the quartet will also be celebrating a new release, and not just any new [...]

According to the Counting Crows every concert you’ll see this summer will be boring – aside from the ones they will put on in the coming months of course. “We want to give fans a completely different concert experience this summer than they’ve been getting,” said Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz.”We’re turning your normal concert [...]

Album Review: The Paper Chase – Someday This Could All Be Yours, Vol. 1

By on May 26th, 2009

★★☆☆☆

Bill Murray utters the immortal line in What about Bob?, “There are two types of people in this world: Those who like Neil Diamond, and those who don’t. My ex-wife loves him.” So true, Bob. So true. The same could be said of The Paper Chase. There isn’t much middle ground in the matter. Party [...]
