Watch: The Dead Weather on Conan; Phoenix on Letterman

In what quite possibly might have been the first battle of epic proportions involving the musical guests of the newly launched Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien and the tried-and-true Late Show with David Letterman that seemingly no one was aware of until this morning when upon watching the performances of The Dead Weather and Phoenix given on the respective late night programs led one to conclude that due to the awesome amount of intensity and musicianship offered by the two outfits, one of course which features Jack White and other which is from France, that they were both clearly trying to one up each other, only to give so much awesome intensity and musicianship that the result was a tie.

  1. didn’t see the Dead Weather on Conan because I am a Letterman fan but Phoenix was pretty good. Haven’t listened to them much but after that I will probably start.

  2. Jack White is the second best drummer in these videos…

  3. Phoenix performance was slightly better for me, but Conan’s reaction beats Letterman’s. He couldn’t have seemed less enthused.

  4. I’m not sure there is anyone more multi-talented out there is music right now than Jack White.

  5. The Dead Weather’s performance is just OK for me. Alison Mosshart doesn’t impress me, and Dean’s guitars were too low in the mix.

Phoenix’s “1901″ sounds great! I can’t wait to see them on Sunday.

  6. i didn’t want to like the dead weather… but that kinda blew me away. i hadn’t heard anything by them, and it was pretty intense. it turns out that meg white is the second best drummer in the band, and the dead weather’s drummer is the best guitarist in the band. funny.

  7. I really just do not like this song at all.

  8. My first, very much anticipated exposure to ther Dead Weather, they strike me as a famale led White Stripes, I quite frankly wish Jack would just focus more on the White Stripes
