Kings of Leon seek to further shape your musical tastebuds

What else is one to do after securing the top of the charts and earning the love of just about everyone, including Perry Farrell? Well, for the Kings of Leon, the creation of their very own label was something to do. In addition to their slew of upcoming tour dates in support of last year’s Only by the Night, an album which hit #5 on the Billboard Top 200 and is currently the biggest selling digital album of all-time in the UK, the southern rockers will spend the summer focusing on their  joint venture with Los Angeles-based music publisher Bug Music, a personal imprint that will also allow them to take the role of tastemakers.

Speaking about the partnership Bug Music’s CEO, John Rudolph noted, “Caleb, Jared, Matthew and Nathan [Followill] are extraordinary tastemakers and constantly absorbing new sounds from all over the world.” Continuing, “The honesty in their music is what draws them to genuine artists. We are excited about developing new artists together as Bug Music continues to innovate and challenge the industry’s traditional thinking of a publisher.”

The first album set for release on the label will be Some Kind Of Salvation by Fellow Nashville band The Features. Exact details are still forthcoming.

  1. arthur fonzarelli - just cos’ they are fans, doesn’t mean their music is good!

  2. debaser,

kol are pixies fans. listen to the soul displayed on their early albums.

    don’t hate

  3. Clark Griswald is right on point. Good job Clark!

  4. I cant wait to see KOL in Dallas on 10/7/09, I heard they are really good in concert. I am so excited, going to stay in Dallas for the night and party down!!!

  5. I love this band. Hands down, just good rock n’ roll. What the hell is wrong with that? Enjoy music. Christ.

  6. Although some songs have a similar vibe, KOL has var-i-e-taay. I saw them at VooDoo a few years back and loved ‘em. I have 07-08 live shows from Bonnaroo, Berlin, and Houston… all rock out, so I’m down. Seeing Eddie Vedder do some stuff with them was primo.

These guys seem like cool dudes too, which can be very questionable with some artists.

  7. Seen them open up for U2 and The Strokes, they were loud and awesome, granted their new album is a little more radio friendly, whats the alternative for the radio at this point? I think they are good, real fucking good!

  8. There is nothing bland or generic about their first three albums.

  9. i don’t understand the mass appeal of kol. there is something about them that is so generic and bland.
