Update: Virgin Mobile Festival is now just a one-day, pavilion event

As rumored, the Virgin Mobile Festival, which has previously featured such acts as The Police, Smashing Pumpkins, The Who, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Foo Fighters, has indeed been downsized and moved to a new location. This year’s edition will take place on August 30th at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. A lineup announcement - Blink 182 and Weezer are among the rumors - as well as ticket information will be announced tomorrow on DC 101’s Elliot In The Morning.

  1. given the location, they better book Animal Collective.
even though I hate Animal Collective

  2. either 1 or 2 days its still going to suck at merriweather it should not even be called a festival anymore. compared to years past it is going to be terrible. hopefully they get things straight at pimlico for next year. this will be the first time i miss the fest boo

  3. we know it’s not a two day event you jackass because the other days have other concerts scheduled and the website aug 30 only ass.

  4. fuck. i saw that advertisement but totally overlooked the fact that only “aug 30th” was listed. this sucks. i was going to make a small trip out of this to see the flaming lips there on the 28th and then do the festival on the 29th and 30th. oh well, something cool can still happen.

  5. how do we know its a 1-day event and not a 2-day event?
