Michael Jackson dead at 50
Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, died today at the age of 50. The apparent cause was cardiac arrest.
According to the Los Angeles Times, paramedics responded to a 911 call from the Los Angeles, California home of Jackson earlier this afternoon. When they arrived, Jackson was not breathing. The paramedics performed CPR and took him to UCLA Medical Center. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Jackson is survived by two sons, Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Michael Joseph Jackson III, and a daughter, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson.
His death came less than a month before he was scheduled to start a 50-date comeback at London’s O2 Arena.
The Recording Academy issued the following statement regarding Jackson’s death: “Rarely has the world received a gift with the magnitude of artistry, talent, and vision as Michael Jackson. He was a true musical icon whose identifiable voice, innovative dance moves, stunning musical versatility, and sheer star power carried him from childhood to worldwide acclaim. A 13-time GRAMMY recipient, Michael’s career transcends musical and cultural genres and his contributions will always keep him in our hearts and memories. We are deeply saddened by this tragic news and our hearts go out to his family and to music lovers around the globe who mourn this great loss.”

I’m amazed that anyone out there could hate on Michael Jackson right now.
Michael, you were an incredibly, ridiculously talented HUMAN being. Yes, you had your flaws, as we all do. You will be greatly missed. May you Rest in Love.
Happy for death or happy for the coverage>
Something about all of this points to a money making scheme with the 50 show run at the O2.
you shouldn’t feel guilty but you are just wrong. the man has been dead in most people’s eyes since he turned into a freakshow. the man made great pop records when he was young but turned into a circus. he could have just pulled a dave chapelle and never stepped out in public again instead of faking a death.
Should I feel guilty thinking it’s staged? I have the utmost respect for the guy and there’s still no better than him when it comes to pop music (even if he cracks me up sometimes, I laughed when I saw his kids’ names), but I’m just finding it very hard to believe this actually happened…partly out of shock but also cause I could see it being some sort of ploy. I’ve been hearing the planning and shit for the upcoming residency hasn’t been going well, so maybe he realized it’s time to get out of the spotlight and take the Tupac route.
Much love Michael…or Michaelveli
sad sad day. king of pop will be missed.
MTV is actually showing Michael Jackson music videos right now. Pretty cool.
Is your name Geordie?
I just hope the fans don’t lose out who foolishly bought tickets in advance.
… not that he died …
Way to be on top of this! I’m happy.
