Reports: Michael Jackson was back to being a music making machine
Another day, another revelation relating to Michael Jackson. As the dust begins to settle and more and more details begin to surface, we’re learning more about the most recent on goings of the pop icon, specifically that he was working on two new studio album at the time of his death.
According to Billboard.com, of the two projects, one was to be in the “pop vein that made him famous” while the other was an instrumental classical composition.
Of course, the former jives with what rapper Akon revealed earlier this week when he he told Billboard that he had been collaborating with Jackson on a new album. It is also believed that songwriter Claude Kelly, who wrote “Hold My Hand”, the Akon-produced Jackson that leaked last year, also had a hand in the album.
The latter of two, however, comes as some surprise. According to Billboard, composer David Michael Frank, who had previously worked with Jackson on 1989 TV tribute to Sammy Davis Jr., had begun collaborating with the musician in recent months as well, but for a something much more unique — an instrumental album consisting of orchestral driven classical music.
“He mentioned more instrumental music of his he wanted to record, including one jazz piece,” Frank said. “He had two demos of two pieces he’d written, but they weren’t complete…For one of them, he had a whole section of it done in his head. He had not recorded it. He hummed it to me as I sat at the keyboard in his pool house and we figured out the chords—I guess this recording I made is the only copy that exists of this music.”
Neither of the two releases are believed to be close to completion and there is no word on what the Jackson family plans to do with any of the material. Factor is the “mountain of unreleased recordings,” including unused tracks from studio sessions, recent collaborations and maybe even 7EVEN???, and it’s no wonder Sony Music CEO Tommy Mottola is quoted as saying Jackson related releases “could go on for years and years — even more than Elvis.”
Speaking of Sony, the label has already announced plans for the release of a five-disc tribute set, which will reportedly consist of re-releases of Thriller, Off The Wall, Bad, Dangerous and Invincible. A release date has not yet been set.
In other words, start saving…

Debster is actually a true fan of Michael jackson. He is just reluctant to accept that King of Pop is dead. I know its hard Debster but you need to accept his death just like all of us.
how is that rude? it’s my opinion.
calm down ya cry babies!
debster - you need to get off this site and stop making rude remarks. Let this legend, this icon, this genius rest in peace. Let his family, friends, and fans all grieve and celebrate his life.
When are people going to realize our society puts a select few people on pedestals, analyzes their every breathe (or hates them for their fame) and then expects them to stay “on top” while most try to bring them down.
It’s to much pressure for most people… which leads to high anxiety and stress, which leads to pill and/or substance abuse. SO often the abuse leads to their demise. I guess some deal with fame different than others.
You gotta hate to see it all go down like that. Life is stranger than fiction… MJ was living proof.
what about some respect for the victims?
let’s hear from the kids?
Michael has sold approx 750 million records worldwide. ‘Dangerous’ which was his 8th Album sold approx
32 million and debued at number 1 and won a Grammy. History sold 20 million, Blood on the Dancefloor was the best selling remix album and although Invincible sold 2 million if it was an everyday artist that woulod have been classed a success. He was his own competition due to the highs he achieved. If people left him alone and didn’t spread lies he would have had time to promote his later albums more. Also he dedicated recent years to bringing up his children.
So think for a minute before you spread your uninformed rubbush. Oh and what makes people like comment on sites like this when peple are grieving. Sure your entiled to your opinion but don’t you have any respect for the hurt people might be feeling right now?
Tabloid fodder; the tabloids never change it’s up to the people if they believe them. The intelligent ones see the tabloids for what they are!
Mj always thought ahead when he created his music. He deserves the recognition he gets. Forthcoming unlereased tracks will create a new generation and his music will stay with us for a very long time.
the new music didn’t break any records, in fact it sold quite poorly.
prior to this upcoming “comeback” he hadn’t done anything noteworthy for years other than being tabloid fodder.
Millions of people would have taken him seriously Debster; firstly as I’m getting your not a fan you wouldn’t know how many jackson fans their are in the world all ‘INTERESTED’ in Michaels music.
Maybe some his earlier albums seemed better than the new ones but his newer albums still brokes records over other artists, so if you look at the facts and figures Michael was never washed up. Also, there are some great tracks on his recent work however with all the crap people threw at him hew didn’t get a chance to promote them as much as he would have.
His comeback would have been huge and he would have proofed to all those who doubt him that he IS the man, the brother, the son, the father, the legend! And he did prove this whther in life or in anohter place! Michael, peace be with you, I hope you’re watching over us as we are always with you! Love you Michael!
yeah, but would anyone had seriously cared about this new music had he not died?
i mean, c’mon….he was over and washed up. no one took him serious in the past 15 or so years. his recent music was shite.
