Watch: Wilco (feat. Okkervil River) perform “California Stars”
Certain things are just a match made in heaven: Peanut butter and jelly, Phish and acid, Vampire Weekend and Guitar Hero 5, and as we recently discovered, Wilco and Okkervil River. Not surprisingly, the two bands hit it off this past weekend when they embarked on a left coast stint together, and the best of both worlds joined hands for a unique performance of “California Stars”. We’ll be honest though, what follows is a pretty fascinating scene, with two of music’s best frontmen, expressing their emotions in two separate manners — Tweedy, complete with a large grin, looks like a kid in a candy store, while Sheff, stands to the side, seemingly speechless, with an acoustic guitar accompanying him.
Oh yeah, and then there’s that part about the performance, which in itself was quite epic…
Hat tip to Breakfast On Tour…
