Brand New stops to smell the flowers with Daisy
On July 8th, Punknews.com announced a release date and title for Brand New’s fourth studio album, And One Head Can Never Die which was supposed to be out on September 22nd via Interscope. Turns out they were only batting a .333 — according to the official press release, the album will indeed be out on the 22nd, but it will be on Procrastinate! Music Traitors, the band’s personal label, in partnership with Interscope. Not only that but it will have a much more masculine name, Daisy. Seriously, Daisy? Oh well. Whether you like the title or not, one thing is for certain, come September 22nd, Brand New will have another record.
Musically, the band describes the album as a “new musical territory. “It’s a pretty exhausting record,” frontman Jesse Lacey noted in a recent interview with Kerrang!. “It’s quite dense and I think some of the decisions we made don’t always go in the most obvious direction. We were thinking a lot more about what we’d want to play when we were up onstage rather than actually what you’d want to hear on a record.”
Ahead of the release, Brand New is playing a string of small sold-out club dates and is gearing up for a special hometown gig on November 27th at Nassau Coliseum. The bill being handed out at the merch booth of the current tour lists Brand New along with Glassjaw and “special guests”, artists that are supposed to be hand-picked by the band.
