White Stripes set to premiere Under Great White Northern Lights at TIFF

I was able to catch The White Stripes during the band’s now memorable 2007 cross-Canadian tour. You know, the one on which Jack and Meg hit up every provinces — and territory! — playing some equally memorable and spontaneous afternoon gigs along the way. Hell, they hit a city bus and warehouse for Pete’s sake! Yeah, that one!
Well, anyway, I remember thinking then how righteous Jack White looked up on stage and how I hoped to remember that red devil for a long time to come. Now, the only image I have of Jack is the busiest and most prolific man in rock and all. Turns out I will… so will everyone else, because even if you weren’t at any of the Canadian gigs, it appears we’ll all be privy to that Canadian tour after all.
And it will be happening soon rather than later. Under Great White Northern Lights, the film which documents that tour, is now close to seeing the light of a northern day. The Emmett Malloy directed documentary is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 18th, though it will be released on Third Man Records eventually with exact dates still unknown.
There’s an all too teasing trailer available on the Stripes site (as well below) and a few images to boot. Think Ernest Hemingway. And get excited.

I can’t wait. There are some other good ones at the festival too. I don’t know how you feel about Diablo Cody, but she has a new zombie film.
