All Points West reveals ‘09 schedule

It’s already been quite an eventful week for All Points West Music Festival… and that was before organizers managed to piece together and share its 2009 schedule. Today, they did just that, revealing who and when you’ll be seeing once the Jersey City based festival officially kicks off next weekend.

Friday features the closest thing to an indie kid’s wet dream with Fleet Foxes, The National, Vampire Weekend, and the Yeah Yeah Yeah all playing on the same stage. The same could probably describe a hip-hop fan’s perspective in the evening, what with Organzied Konfusion, Pharcyde, and Q-Tip playing back-to-back-to-back on the Bullet Stage before being ultimately capped off by a performance from the night’s headliner, Jay-Z, at Blue Comet.

Saturday’s got a few conflicts with St. Vincent going against Gogol Bordello and Tokyo Police Club performing at the same time as My Bloody Valentine. Notice how I didn’t mention how The Ting Tings’ set conflicts with that of Tool’s.

APW’s final day has The Gaslight Anthem leading into Silversun Pickups leading into Elbow leading into Echo & the Bunneymen leading into Coldplay. In other words, find a good spot and get comfortable! If you do to choose to venture away from Blue Commet, Akron/Family, Mogwai, The Black Keys, MGMT, and Hey Champ are all also performing on Sunday. Wait a minute… MGMT vs. Coldplay? Anyone want to take bets as to who will draw a better crowd?

Check the full-schedule at apwfestival.com, or below. Tickets are still available via Ticketmaster.com.

  1. Liberty State Park is an amazing venue, though very strange-smelling, as Chris Martin said from the stage. Coldplay was great as were We Are Scientists, PT Walkley and The Black Keys!

  2. If you can’t go to APW or are strapped for cash (who isn’t in this economy?), SSPU are playing a private pre-show for free (!) in New York before their APW show. I already won tickets and it was pretty easy.

Enter here and hope to see you at SSPU and APW! http://www.iheartradio.com/cc-common/globalcontestfinder.html?contest=38910&cmp=silversuncontest

  3. I hated mgmt live at lolla last year but thought their roo show was awesome this year. Ultimately it is all about the crowd.

  4. MGMT live blows am a fan of studio album but if your torn like other people have said see coldplay

  5. MGMT live show isn’t terrible but it’s definitely not worth missing Coldplay or Etienne De Crecy.

  6. uhhhh- for the people concerned with seeing MGMT live - go read a review- their live show is one of the worst out there. Stick to the albums.

  7. 50 minute sets for the sub headliners? Ouch.

  8. *cries* Why am I not there? Am I destined to never see MGMT live?

  9. i agree with gustave. that sunday is a mess. the black keys, mgmt, and coldplay all around the same time.

that said, friday looks great. fleet foxes into the national into vampire weekend into jay-z. good stuff.

  10. The conflict on Sunday are a nightmare. Coldplay MGMT and Etienne De Crecy are all playing at the same time. Those were the three I was most excited for.
