With the advent of torrents and .pdf files, the majority of unreleased material finds its way out by leaks these days. So, why spend between $30-$300 on various special editions? Because the industry loves money (take into account the beaucoup unreleased Michael Jackson collection) and fans love collectibles. Ergo after years of being overshadowed by Subliminal Verses and most recently All Hope Is Gone, the first of Slipknot’s two masterpieces is being let out as a 10th anniversary deluxe edition.
The 1999 eponymous major label debut Slipknot is coming to shelves on September 9th, 2009 (9/9/09) and coinciding with a one-day music festival hosted by Slipknot in their hometown of Des Moines, Iowa featuring a Jagermeister stage of strictly local acts. The album will be released with a documentary DVD titled of the (sic): Your Nightmares, Our Dreams and the CD itself will contain a total of 25 tracks including demos and remixes. The DVD will also feature music videos for the two singles “Spit It Out” and “Wait And Bleed”, and if you up the ante to a deluxe special edition the entire package will come in a steel case with a t-shirt, key chain, patch and various collectible cards.
Most fans who have been listening to Slipknot this long already have a shirt and a patch, but this is certainly a time for celebration and worth digging into your pockets a bit. The band has become a phenomenon since their breakthrough success in ‘99, long since managing to acquire a Grammy, some soundtrack positions and a few memorable music videos to boot. While a certain mystique about Slipknot has dissipated with Corey Taylor and his various projects stealing some limelight, fans remember first donning a tribal “s” on their makeshift overalls Halloween or not.
Between the DVD documentary and the nice tin for display on your shelf, Slipknot: 10th Anniversary Edition earns a prime spot next to your Edgar Allan Poe action figure and a signed copy of the Clerks II OST.

@David: It’s a french word, so I can’t ding you too hard. ![]()
To be fair, Samuel Clements (aka Mark Twain) complained about that exact sort of thing over 100 years ago: http://bit.ly/1YZxDK
I believe these will be the tracks containing cleaner production, plus added demos to represent earlier cuts.
I do remember that re-release and you pose a very interesting question. Hopefully a more educated guess will be allotted to me soon.
Thank you for that, I actually just went by how it sounded because I’ve never seen it spelled otherwise.
You learn something new everyday!
i vaguely remember this album being re-released once they got some radio play with cleaner vocals replacing most of the growls. at the very least i know this was the case for the radio singles. any idea which versions of the songs will be on this release?
