My Bloody Valentine wants to plug your ears
In response to the gallons of ear-blood that stain each and every venue My Bloody Valentine stomp out of, the hot UK ticket plans to take action and ease the clean up crew’s life some. Starting this fall, as they make their way home into European waters, the Kevin Shields-led act will provide concertgoers with one free novelty: ear plugs!
Recently the band teamed up with Earplugshop.com, which will supply each concert (and every concertgoer) with disposable “Moldex yellow” earplugs. Shaun Thornburgh, the man behind the site, seems thrilled:
“I am very pleased to have struck a deal with such an ear-splittingly loud band as My Bloody Valentine, and respect to them for taking ear damage so seriously. By handing out these disposable earplugs at their gigs, the band is highlighting how important it is to protect ears from damage which, once set in, is irreversible.”
Well, there you have it. Albeit a year late, it’s good to know the scraggly shoegazers are concerned for their audience — after all, how else do they expect fans to function after the 27-minute mindfuck that is “You Made Me Realise”?
Earplugs, please.

No, I do recall ear plugs at the Aragon show last year. I guess this is more aimed at a newer ear plug? Oh well.
yup, they handed out ear plugs at this past w/e’s All Points West *only* on the day that MBV played. didn’t catch the brand though.
I think the news is more that they have teamed up w/ a company to do it… So, it is news.
Yeah,do a little research. They’ve been doing it at every show. They even handed them out on the day they played Coachella.
Don’t they already do this? When I saw them at the Aragon in Chicago they were handing out earplugs at the door to everyone.
